  • Caring: is best demonstrated by a nurse’s ability to embody the five core values of professional nursing. Core nursing values essential to nursing education include human dignity, integrity, autonomy, altruism and social justice. The caring professional nurse integrates these values in clinical practice.

Here students receive an education of the highest grade in the art and science of nursing and to equip with the spirit of holism, ethics, empathy and courage to serve the community locally, nationally and internationally.
The above vision and mission have been approved by LMC members, as it has decided that all nursing colleges of Samsthas will have the same vision and mission.

Philosophy

The philosophy of the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program is to prepare compassionate and competent nurses who can effectively meet the healthcare needs of individuals and communities. This is achieved by combining scientific principles with an art of caring, which emphasizes the individual's dignity and holistic well-being. The training focuses on providing comprehensive, quality nursing care in collaboration with other health professionals.

Aims

  • Develop Competent Nurses: To prepare nurses who are technically proficient and capable of providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in various healthcare settings.
  • Promote Holistic Care: To train nurses to provide promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health services to individuals, families, and communities across their lifespan.
  • Foster Collaboration: To help students develop the ability to cooperate and coordinate effectively with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Encourage Professional Development: To help nurses grow personally and professionally so they can contribute maximally to society and assume leadership and management roles.
  • Adapt to Advancements: To prepare nurses to keep pace with the latest professional and technological developments and use them to enhance nursing care.

Objectives

Upon completion of the GNM program, a nurse is expected to be able to:

  • Provide Comprehensive Nursing Care: Demonstrate competency in using the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide care for clients from birth to death.
  • Apply Scientific Knowledge: Utilize knowledge from the humanities, biological, and behavioral sciences to function effectively as a nurse.
  • Function as a Team Member: Work effectively with other health team members and the community by applying excellent human relations and communication skills.
  • Promote Community Health: Mobilize and involve community resources to deliver curative, preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative health services.
  • Uphold Ethical Values: Demonstrate strong ethical values and adhere to a professional code of conduct in their personal and professional life.
  • Engage in Continuous Learning: Recognize the need for continuing education and lifelong learning for professional development.
  • Educate and Lead: Demonstrate basic teaching, administrative, and leadership skills while working with other healthcare professionals and the community.
  • Participate in Research: Assist in research activities and use research findings to improve the quality of nursing practice.
